Lauder Golf Club Winter League.
Seven hardy souls set out on Sunday 29th November in horrendous conditions. After nine holes the consensus of opinion was to call it a day, but Grant Robson was on a good score and wanted to carry on.
Halfway up the tenth hole, The golfing Gods intervened, Grant twisted round to get a club from his bag, then collapsed in agony with a dislocated knee cap.
Club captain Dougie Bain phoned 999 and an ambulance was dispatched, but because the course is so soft at this time of year the ambulance could not get to the patient. Farmer Billy Hunter came to the rescue with his clinically sterile four wheel drive pick-up transporting Grant to the car park where he was transferred to the ambulance.
We are happy to report Grant has now been discharged on crutches, but will be out of action for a few weeks.
